I created a simple installer that calls a custom dll which displays a messagebox. calling a function in a dll! I experimented and found that the custom action that is needed is "Call a public method in a managed assembly". I did what you suggested in #1 and found that the custom action "Call a function in a standard dynamic-link library" that I was using does not work if you are. I have tried inserting the custom action at several points in the install (after InstallFiles, etc.), but cannot get this to work.Īny help on this issue will be greatly appricated. The issue I am running into is that the dll either fails with a "Cannot find entrypoint" and the dll runs and returns a failure (1603). I hae tried inserting the custom action at various places in the installer, but it is not working: In InstallShield, I created a custom action that runs the dll using the parameters which the user sets in the dialog box during install. When I run the dll from a command prompt, everything works exactly as expected. To do this, I created a C# dll which decompresses a given cab file, edits the necessary file and then re-compresses the cab file. I need to use the input to edit a file within the created. Using InstallShield Spring 2012 I created an installer that prompts the user for input and then runs a mobile install.
